Carl Vickery -- Boxing Instructor/Coach

Boxing, also known as pugilism or the sweet science, uses footwork, timing and head movement to avoid strikes from an opponent while countering and delivering hand attacks. It is not only a practical and proven method of self defense but an excellent way to condition your body and keep fit.

Carl Vickery began boxing in 2000 while living in Arcadia, Florida. Eight months later he would win his first Florida State Title. Known for his great footwork and fast hands he says, “Brawling is not boxing. The object is to hit and not get hit. To be a good boxer you must not only be in great shape, you have to understand the rhythm and the timing that’s involved.”

Shortly after winning the Florida State Title, Carl would bring home a silver medal from the Sunshine State Games. Carl not only has the knowledge and tools that make him a great fighter, but an intense work ethic to consistently stay in shape.

That philosophy he carries on to his students and into the class. “I had the opportunity to spar and train with some fantastic fighters. The things I have learned, I want to share with my team here at Black Trunk Martial Arts.” Continuing his training he looks forward to future challenges in boxing as well as creating some well-rounded fighters at Black Trunk Martial Arts.
